Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Qty ("the App", "we", "us", or "our"). Qty is an iOS inventory management application that allows individuals and teams to track stock, manage categories and storage locations, and collaborate within spaces.

This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect when you use Qty, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information. By downloading and using Qty, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

2. Who We Are

Qty is an independently developed application. The data controller responsible for your personal data is:

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

3.1 Account & Authentication Data

When you sign in using Google Sign-In, we receive and store the following data provided by Google:

  • Email address — used to identify your account.
  • Display name — shown within the app to other team members.
  • Profile photo URL — optionally displayed as your avatar (if set in your Google account).
  • Unique user ID (UID) — a Firebase-generated identifier used internally.

We do not receive or store your Google account password. Authentication is handled entirely by Google and Firebase Authentication.

3.2 App-Generated Content

As you use the App, you create and store the following data in our cloud database (Google Cloud Firestore):

  • Space data — space names you create, invite codes, and membership lists (stored as UIDs).
  • Inventory items — item names, descriptions, quantities, and associated metadata (dates, movement history).
  • Categories — custom category names and color preferences you define.
  • Locations — storage location names and color preferences you define.

3.3 Technical & Usage Data

Firebase services may automatically collect limited technical data such as:

  • IP address (used by Firebase for security and abuse prevention).
  • Device type and operating system version (collected by Firebase Analytics, if enabled).
  • App usage session information.

We do not use this data for advertising or profiling purposes.

3.4 Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect:

  • Precise or approximate GPS/location data.
  • Contacts, photos, or media from your device.
  • Microphone, camera, or biometric data.
  • Payment or financial information.
  • Browsing history or data from other apps.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

  • Provide and operate the App — to create and maintain your account, enable inventory management, and allow collaboration between team members within a space.
  • Enable team features — display your name and avatar to other members of spaces you belong to.
  • Security and integrity — prevent unauthorized access, detect abuse, and enforce our Terms of Use.
  • Improve the App — understand aggregate usage patterns to fix bugs and build new features.

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to operating the App.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Within your space — your display name and profile photo URL are visible to other members of spaces you have joined or created. Space inventory data is shared among all members of that space.
  • With Firebase/Google — data is stored and processed on Google's Firebase infrastructure (see Section 6).
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose your data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.

6. Third-Party Services

Qty uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

Google Firebase

We use Firebase Authentication (for sign-in) and Cloud Firestore (for data storage), both provided by Google LLC. Firebase processes data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy .

Data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure, which may involve servers located in the United States and other countries.

Google Sign-In

Authentication is performed via Google Sign-In. When you sign in, Google's OAuth flow handles your credentials. Qty only receives the scopes listed in Section 3.1 (email, display name, profile photo URL). We do not receive your Google password.

Apple App Store

Distributing the App via the Apple App Store means Apple may collect certain technical information about your device and app usage as described in Apple's Privacy Policy .

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. Specifically:

  • Account data — retained until you request account deletion (see Section 9).
  • Space and inventory data — retained while the space exists. When an owner deletes a space, its inventory data is soft-deleted (marked as deleted) for historical integrity and then permanently removed upon explicit request.
  • Item movement records — retained as part of the inventory audit trail for the lifetime of the space.

If you leave a space, your account data (name, UID) may remain in that space's membership records until an admin removes it.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data:

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS-encrypted connections.
  • Data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, which provides encryption at rest.
  • Access to space data is restricted by Firestore Security Rules: only authenticated members of a space can read or write that space's data.
  • We do not store your Google password or any credentials in the App or our database.

While we implement these safeguards, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data. (Note: your display name and photo are managed via your Google account settings.)
  • Deletion — request that we delete your account and all associated personal data.
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to certain processing of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at dima.dragos0@gmail.com. We will respond to verifiable requests within 30 days.

How to delete your account: To request full deletion of your account and data, send an email to dima.dragos0@gmail.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include the email address associated with your Qty account. We will process your request within 14 days.

10. Children's Privacy

Qty is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages.

If we become aware that we have inadvertently received personal data from a child under these ages, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us at dima.dragos0@gmail.com.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Continued use of Qty after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
